Common Questions About Surrogacy

Whether you’re considering becoming a parent through surrogacy or interested in giving the gift of family as a surrogate carrier, you will undoubtedly have many questions about how the process unfolds.

Do I need surrogacy agency?

The help of an agency is a good idea for all parties involved. Agency staff are trained to help protect and manage the important and delicate relationship between you and your surrogate partner. Emotional and psychological support is provided for each individual involved. Overseeing the financial aspects, fertility specialists and appointments, accountancy, solicitors and legal document issuance can bring unwelcome stress during an otherwise extraordinary and wonder-filled process. Using a surrogacy agency for process management allows intended parents and gestational carriers to feel secure knowing the surrogacy plan ahead of time, that all elements are mutually agreed upon and everyone’s interests are protected.

Which program do I need?

At Be Parent, we offer the highest level of personalized service and tailor your journey according to your unique needs and expectations. The following questions will help determine the best program fit for you as a starting point:

  • Are egg and/or sperm donors needed?
  • Do you have frozen embryos already created and ready to use?
  • Do you, as an intended parent, need any additional screening or testing before proceeding with an IVF cycle?
  • Do you understand your native country’s legal stance and immigration policy in regards to surrogacy abroad?

Once you book your consultation our team will evaluate your case requirements and recommend the best path forward in regards to program type and next steps.

How much does surrogacy cost?

There are many variables and options for your Be Parent surrogacy journey abroad, so it’s difficult to set an exact figure without a consultation. A general estimate would be $28 500 – $76 000.

What is the motivation behind being a surrogate carrier?

The answer to this question is twofold. Certainly, the desire to pass forward the gift of parenthood to someone who wouldn’t have this experience otherwise. Our surrogate team members recall how much they loved pregnancy, feel secure in knowing their own families are complete and that they can’t wait to see the joy on a new parent’s face when their own sweet bundle enters the world. While compensation is never the sole motivation, this important aspect greatly benefits your surrogate partner and her family and most often in the form of home upgrades or further educational opportunities.

What kind of relationship will our surrogate partner expect during the pregnancy and after birth?

Great question! And one that has many different answers. This is a significant component of any surrogacy journey and we do our best to match expectations on both sides; clear communication is key. The majority of gestational carriers and intended parents want to experience milestones together whenever possible, especially the big ones…such as hearing your baby’s heartbeat for the first time or discovering gender. The level of communication from a distance is mutually agreed upon before starting out and connection strategies are explained and implemented with the help of your personal coordinator.
